The lesson to unlearn
The product I want to build for RainbowVI is a collection of short courses that help young people become aware of and acknowledge their well-being. The courses need to be both helpful in content and engaging in a youthful, quick manner. As a learning design specialist, I was struggling to create a simple course.
____
Years in education and tech led me to overcomplicate things, hindering my ability to create engaging, straightforward content. My first demo course, despite much effort, failed to achieve the desired impact due to excessive complexity, which I mistakenly believed would make it more modern and interesting.
I needed to break my old habit of making courses too complicated. Creating simpler courses with less multimedia felt scary. It's normal to feel nervous when trying something new, especially when it is about educational methods.
But is it the pattern of my life that I always tried new things?
Looking back, I see that embracing change and taking risks have been key to my career. I've consistently sought out new challenges, from career shifts to adopting emerging technologies. This willingness to explore the unfamiliar has brought me to my current position, ready to innovate in youth well-being education.
