In the nonprofit world, a Theory of Change (ToC) is a tool for planning and evaluating social impact. It maps out how change happens by connecting an initiative’s short-term, mid-term, and long-term goals. These connections show why each step is needed to reach the next, backed up by reasons or assumptions explaining how each outcome builds toward lasting impact.
The ToC will guide us in designing activities and developing a Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) plan with an appropriate data collection strategy.
At RainbowVI, we devoted our entire first year—and potentially more—to trial and error, testing our assumptions about the impact we aimed to create. We believe that self-directed learning for youth forms the foundation of lifelong learning. However, we recognize that meaningful impact must be practical and grounded in real-life experiences. That's why we strive to create opportunities for young people to develop valuable skills through learning, course creation, and community engagement. Ultimately, our goal is to build a more extensive learning and practice environment for youth, supported by experienced experts.
