Learning Objectives
- Learners will write a brief reflection (3-5) on how a specific event made them feel and explain why.
- Learners will do a self-care activity (like listening to music or journaling) and note one change in their mood afterward.
- Learners will identify one thing they appreciate about themselves in the 15-minute activity and record it in 1-2 sentences.
Comment from Vi:
Good try!!! This is your first Learning Objectives (LOs). In learning design, this step is very important, and it is not easy. To master making LOs, you need experience building courses and assessments. We just have enough time to give you a taste of it. I will give you each an explanation and suggest a revised version.
- “Learners will write a reflection…” or “do a self-care activity…” cannot demonstrate knowledge and skills. Besides that, you will need to train them to write a reflection and do the activity.
- An online course has limitations for real-time response, format, and length of these activities. As soon as learners turn off the course, it is unclear if they will open it again and do the task requested. We want to make sure learners don’t leave the course and understand the content we provided.
- “Learners will identify one thing they appreciate about themselves” is the best we can apply among the three. Well done!
- Revised version:
- Understand why self-care is an essential part of maintaining overall well-being.
- Understand common stressors (e.g., burnout, anxiety, grief) and recognize how they affect health.
- Apply one simple 15-minute self-care practice to support mental or emotional resilience. (ex: Write down three things you’re grateful for)
- Apply a quick self-check strategy to notice and reframe unhelpful thoughts or stress.
