Presenter: Vi Ly, Executive Director Highlights:
- Funding: No new funds secured this quarter. Funding applications were submitted, and outcomes from Catapult Canada are expected in September.
- BCIT Co-op: A UI/UX student joined RainbowVI through the BCIT co-op placement, contributing to design work.
- Partnership Strategy: The strategy was built and published on the website with Jessica's help. We can continue to focus on collaborations that support youth well-being and e-learning design.
- Youth Learning Design Bootcamp: Successfully launched - the highlight of the quarter
- Run by a team of 3 with 1 Subject Matter Expert
- 2 youth participants are joining 5 5-week training in course design
Overall: RainbowVI continues to build capacity through partnerships and youth programs, while awaiting funding confirmations to support scaling.
Feedback & Discussion:
- Chan thanked Vi for continuing to apply for funds and suggested that when the organization is ready, they can also consider seeking support from the community.
- Vi shared that she may have a psychological block around asking for money, but hopes to gain confidence and overcome this challenge as the program grows and with the proper support in developing a funding strategy.
- Patricia suggested exploring the possibility of finding someone dedicated to fundraising so that Vi can focus more on building programs without carrying the full burden of funding.
- Jessica asked how the Bootcamp attracted participants. Vi explained that Instagram ads were used to generate interest. Data showed that young males engaged more with short animations, while young females responded better to still-image carousels.
- Next meeting: TBD (in November)
